Milestone 5 - Scenarios - Samantha Forsey

It's a Wednesday night and Samantha has just gotten home from having dinner and drinks after work with some friends. She logs onto her computer first thing as she usually does to check her email. Ten new messages await her, which she browses and decides to answer later.

Samantha next checks Craigslist, which she also does almost every night. She scans the 'furniture for sale' section to see if there are any kitchen tables that have been listed for sale in the past few days. No luck - there's sofas and bookshelves and mattresses for sale, but no tables.

Samantha switches gears and next goes to her RSS reader to get up to date on her blog feeds. She reads some celebrity gossip from a celebrity blog she likes, then checks out the newest posts from her favorite fashion blog. Finally, she checks out the feed for the blog of a friend of hers who lives in town. She sees that he's written a new post about some new website that helps you find items at local thrift stores. He thinks it's an interesting idea and a good way to help increase sales at local thrift stores. Interested, Samantha clicks the link to go to the website and find out more.

At the website's homepage, Samantha sees that she can easily find out which thrift stores have the items that she is looking for. She clicks on the categories to narrow them down to furniture and then tables, and sees that there are 4 thrift stores in the area that usually have tables. She then sees that there is a way to submit a request to one or more of the stores to see if they have an exact item. Samantha submits a request for the table wants, and since she has a knows what kind of table she's looking for, she uploads an image she found from doing a Google Image Search.

Once she submits her request, Samantha sees that it's possible for her to view other people's requests that thrift stores could not find. What a great feature, Samantha thinks, especially since someone is looking for a wicker chair, and she happens to have one she was about to post on Craigslist. Samantha clicks to send a message to the requestor to say she's got the item for sale.

The next day, Samantha checks her email during her lunch break, and sees that she's gotten an email from the service telling her that a thrift store in town has a table similar to what she wanted. Excited, Samantha goes to the store on her way home from work and picks up her new table. At the store, Samantha sees that the list of requested items is shown on a display. She decides to return the favor by finding an item for someone else. There's some instructions next to the display that explain that if you have a phone with a camera, you can upload the picture of the item you find to the site as well. Samantha sees that "ballet shoes" is on the list, so she goes to the shoe section to see if she can find any. After looking for a few minutes, she finds a pair, and uses her iPhone to take a picture of them and upload it to the address that was provided. Then, she brings the shoes to the front of the store and gets a coupon from the clerk for finding an item.
