Milestone 5 - Scenarios - Marla Jacobson
It's almost Christmas time. Marla Jacobson has been planning to get gifts for her children and her husband. Her husband has medical problems, and since it's getting colder, his condition got worse recently. She wants to have a great Christmas to cheer him up. With Christmas only a week away, she is worried about having time to shop around local thrift stores because she just found out that she needs to cover Saturday and Sunday shifts for her co-worker who has gone to a family funeral. She checks her schedule, and found out she has a day off on the upcoming Wednesday. She decides to go shopping for all the gifts on that day.

She is now on a 30-minute break at work, and she can't stop thinking about Christmas shopping because she doubts she is going to have enough time to find nice things for her children and husband. She is looking on the internet at work to try to get an idea of what she'll be able to get. She wants to get American Civil War toy soldiers for Dayle, who wants to be a soldier, toy cars for other children, and cast iron and griddle pan for her husband. She tries Amazon.com and they have some of those costumes. However, they are expensive and premium shipping costs even more. She decides that it would be better to buy used gifts than new because of the cost. She now tries to find some from local thrift stores.
She is once again frustrated by poor online environment for thrift stores in her local area. She can't find what items those stores have in stock. She can't go around all the stores on her single day off because she doesn't have a car. While frustratedly searching online, she finds a website called "Treasure Hunter". There she finds out that she can request notifications about the availability of certain products from certain stores. She can even set a request deadline so that she can get results back by Christmas Eve. This would be very helpful to her, so she decides it's worth a try.
On the main page, she starts searching for the items she wants by navigating through the lists of categories. There is no specific "American Civil War toy soldiers" category so she is going to submit her request directly to the system. She first registers with the system so that she can get the result back for her request. She fills out the request form and sets the deadline for no later than Christmas Eve. She added toy cars, cast irons, and griddle pans on her request as well. Although unsure about whether this system is really going to work for her, she knows she needs to rely on it at this point. She logs out and gets back to work, satisfied that as best as she can, she has done her Christmas shopping.

Back at work on Tuesday, she checks her email and is thrilled to find out that a local thrift store replied to each of her requests and said they have American Civil War toy soldiers and others she needs to get. She'll stop by tomorrow, her day off.
The next day, she wakes up and goes to the store. On the shelf behind the counter, there were Christmas gifts for her, those items that she was looking for, waiting for her. Pleased, she buys them.
