Milestone 5 - Scenarios

Based on the personas we created for milestone 3 - and subsequently revised - several user scenarios were created. These scenarios examine how different stakeholder personas might interact with the sytem. The scenarios include what goals led to the use of the system, what portions of the system the persona interacted with, and what the outcome of this interaction was.

Each scenario was influenced by the design concepts that were explored during the lo-fi prototyping of Milestone 4.

The team used the scenarios to more closely examine the lo-fi prototypes we had created for issues.

Daisy Higgins
'The Quirky Treasure Hunter'

Daisy is going thrifting for fun since she has some free time on the weekend
She finds out about the Treasure Hunter system at the store and gladly looks for items for others as she's doing her own shopping
Daisy receives a coupon for finding the items and bringing them to the front of the store
She purchases several items of her own, using her coupon to save money

'The Donator and Mall Shopper'

Lisa wants to get rid of some of her daughters' old stuff and find a new lamp for her living room
In searching online for Salvation Army's phone number, she comes across the Treasure Hunter system
She uses the system to confirm that Salvation Army will take the items she wants to donate
While there, she decides to try searching for a lamp with a blue lamp shade
The next day, she receives a notification from Treasure Hunter saying that Salvation Army has just such a lamp
She takes her items to donate to Salvation Army and picks up the lamp

Marla Jacobson
'The Low-income Shopper'

Marla only has a week to find specific Christmas gifts for her family.
Because of the high price of the Amazon, She changes her direction to local thrift stores, but she can't find what items they currently have. She needs to know what they have and then makes one stop shopping because of her tight schedule.
She finds Treasure Hunter and decides to give it a shot.
She gets replies from local stores who have the items she was looking for, and next day she goes to one store and buys them.

Samantha Forsey
'The Young Corporate Worker'

Samantha hasn't had any luck finding a table she likes on Craig's List
Using the Treasure Hunter System, Samantha finds out which stores sell tables
Using the request feature, Samantha sends a description of the table she wants, including a photo
Samantha notices that the system was unable to find a wicker chair for another user. She uses the system to contact that user and offers to sell them her wicker chair.
A few days later, Samantha is notified by the system that a local store has a table she may like.
While picking up her table, Samantha notices the Treasure Hunter list. She helps to find an item from the list in order to help someone else out, and receives a discount.

Greg Thompson
'The Thrift Store Volunteer'

Greg is a thrift store employee who wants to increase his sales without putting too much effort into a new system.
He updates the system the items they are now accepting for donation.
He publishes the list of items that people have requested for the treasure hunters to find. When treasure hunters find items, he uses the system to notify the requestor, and gives the treasure hunter a coupon.
The treasure hunter system helps him to reduce time and effort he used to spend answering phone calls and updating the stores' personal website.
